DON'T BE THE NEXT VICTIM

According to Dectectives at the Cleveland Police Honocide Unit, crimes committed against the Gay community are, "The most difficult to investigate". For reasons varying from that old stand-by, not wanting to get invovled to, that special problem Gays face, friends, family and work 'do not know most crimes committed against Gays go unsolved. An estimated 70% of robberies, assults, muggings and rapes are nover reported. Of those that are, fou ever have the foles closed on then. Not because the police are not doing their jobs, "because the victin ie Gay" as I've heard so many Gays say. Rather that fou Gays are willing to talk to & help the police do their jobs, which is to protect us.

In the Cleveland area, of late, there have been several senseless murders in the Gay community. All of which, the respective Police Departments invovled are trying very hard to solve. Unfortunatly with very little help from those who should be most concerned, the Gay community of the Cleveland aroa.

Though it should be said that any murder is an extreme act, according to Honocido Dotectives, the homosexual murder is, "very oxtrome; without a doubt the most vicious; and next to inpossible to investigate".

Now a fow ways, according to Homocide Detectives, to avoid being the next murder victie in Cleveland.

1. STAY AWAY fron areas known for "hustler action", particuarly the Mall downtown.

2. If you are going cut to "find some action" for a night; go to one of the two Club Batha here or to a bar with a "STRICTLY GAY" Croud; AVOID bars with a mixed or changing croud and if you do not know the person ask the bartender, owner of a friend if they know about the person.

3. Finally, BUT MOST IMPORTANT, if you find yourself in a "tough situation"; 1. Give them what they want. 2. Don't panic. 3. DO NOT RESIST. 4. Do not try to be a hero.

Then if you are a victim, at least you will be alive to report the crime, and please 00 REPORT IT. The next victim may not be so lucky and that next person COULD BE YOU, or a Loved One.

WE LOSE A FRIEND

A locally run Gay publication is by no means a way to get rich. It is rathor, a labor of love which the Publisher at least expects to break even on every couple of weeks or once a month depending on publishing dates.

Persons involved in running a Gay Magazine or Newspaper, if it's run in good taste, do so because they care deeply in the betterment of the Gay community. That is why it is very sad when a publication ceases to publish. December was the last month for METROPLEX MAGAZINE, which served Northeast Chio, to publish. METROPLEX MAGAZINE will be missed greatly.

Magazines such as ACTION or METROPLEX, which are free to the public, rely on advertisers for revenue, unfortunatly not all people who place ade pay for them. Like any business losses can only be absorbed so long, then it cust fold.

Steve Jobe and his staff put out a very good magazine. If Stove vas guilty of anything, it was only that if a fellow Gay Businessperson asked for an ad, thay got it. When it came time to pay for that ad, all to feu did.

The Staff of ACTION will miso working with the guys on the Staff of METROPLEX MAGAZINE.

NEW CLEVELAND BAR

DEC. 20th brought the ACTION Staff to the Grand Opening of Te Club Max at 727 Bolivar in Cleveland.

This club is very unique with its black & red walls covered with
